Our Rates & Consumer Services

The Denver Board of Water Commissioners (Denver Water Board) adopted water rates for 2017 which included an adjustment to their cost of water and a substanial increase in their fixed monthly meter service charges for each of the last two years. Denver Water Board's new rate structure is striving to improve revenue stability by increasing fixed revenue and reducing weather related volatility.

The Consolidated Mutual Water Company("Consolidated") purchases treated water from the Denver Water board at water rates and fixed meter charges applicable to Master Meter Distributors for about 60% of its total water distributed annually and did not adjust rates in 2016. Treated water purchased from Denver Water impacts 40% of Consolidated's annual operation and maintenance budget. Despite the Denver Water Board's rate increases since 2015,Consolidated is committed to keeping its rates as low as possible without compromising water service to our Stockholders

Consolidated's water rates are set as low as good service will permit, but sufficient to pay for operation, maintenance, debt service, depreciation, insurance, taxes, and the development of reserves for capital improvements. Effective with all billings on and after February 1, 2017, the rate charged for all water delivered will increase to $4.60 per thousand gallons (previous rate was $4.50) and all billings shall also include a bi-monthly fixed customer service charge which  has remained unchanged since 2011 and is based upon meter size in accordance with the following schedule (previous rates are shown in parentheses for making comparisons):
